The McPherson Coalition for Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (MCEID) is a non-profit created to support McPherson, Kansas area organizations that encourage equity, inclusion, and diversity through events, education, awareness, and community building.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that representation is key in empowering individuals from underrepresented minorities - giving them a sense of community and belonging, as well as the confidence that they matter. Lack of community and representation are likely a large part of why individuals from underrepresented minorities suffer significantly higher rates of mental health issues, and have difficulty finding support networks and obtaining affirming healthcare services. Anecdotal evidence from residents of McPherson and the surrounding communities suggests that increased support and representation for members of underrepresented minorities would provide significant benefits.

We are the only general DEI organization in the community, one that is specifically focused on representation and inclusion for individuals of any underrepresented minorities. We are also the only local group focused on members of the LGBTQIA+ community - before our founding, no local Pride celebration existed, nor did a community group for individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ or as allies.

We organize and host several ongoing initiatives and individual events throughout the year in an effort to both change the culture surrounding underrepresented minority individuals in our community, and to provide spaces where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves and celebrating their friends and neighbors.
