Kieryn McCann (per/per/pers or thon/thon/thons) is from Piper, Kansas and initally came to McPherson as a student at McPherson College to study Entrepreneurship in 2013.  Pers passion for leaving the world better than per found it lead per on a journey between planning a cooperative, working a food truck, and running for city office in 2023. Kieryn parents one toddler, a cat, and a dog. Most of thons days are spent learning new skills with D.I.Y. home renovation projects between serving on the McPherson/Marion County Head Start Policy Council as the Chairperson and working as a community animator with The Neighboring Movement.

Kieryn began volunteering with MCEID in September 2022 and since then has spearheaded the Leadership Literacy Library program, the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil, and the Gender Affirming Haircut Fund. Per looks forward to future collaborations across the McPherson community with focus on intersectionality and accessibility in the hopes of reinforcing McPherson's neighborly spirit.

Tommy Worthen (they/his) is a lifetime McPherson resident. His interests include animation, visual arts, graphic design, and possesses a passion for advocacy. They are excited to be stepping into the role of Secretary and begin making our community a welcoming place for all.

Tom began serving on the MCEID Board in September 2024.

Julie Schott (she/her/hers) has proudly called McPherson home for the past 10 years. During this time, she has become involved in the community through her volunteer work and public service. Julie actively supports the McPherson High School Speech and Debate Program, which teaches students communication and critical thinking skills. In addition, she has served on the McPherson City Planning Commission for five years, playing a role in shaping the city's development and ensuring it meets the needs of all residents. Julie is dedicated to cultivating a community that is inclusive, welcoming, and forward-looking. She is committed to fostering an accepting and supportive environment for current and new residents, ensuring that McPherson remains a sustainable and thriving home for all generations, both now and in the future.

Cara (she/her/hers) became involved with MCEID when she was a student at McPherson College. She joined as a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in McPherson. Cara has been involved in MCEID’s Pride celebrations, Bingo nights, Trans Day of Remembrance events, and various fundraisers. Her love for McPherson causes her to hold high expectations for herself and her neighbors when it comes to inclusion and acceptance. Cara currently works as a Library Assistant in McPherson. In her free time, she enjoys knitting, crafting, and swimming.
